Short Reviews of the Selected scanners
1. HP ScanJet Pro 2500F1 – Recommended for Most Small Organizations
HP 2500F1 is one of the most sleek looking flatbed scanners with ADF.
We highly recommend this since it is evenly priced yet offers all the essential functionalities.
For starters, it has a scanning speed of 20 ppm or 40 ipm. Besdes that it has a 50 page Automatic Document Feeder.
The scanner has single pass duplex scanning feature. Thus it is highly convenient if you have a lot of double sided documents to scan.
This is the entry level scanner in the HP ScanJet Pro series and therefore it is suited for smaller organizations. It has the capacity to scan 1,500 pages daily. If you have a somewhat larger work group, you can look into the more expensive variant like the ScanJet 3500F1 that has a daily scanning volume of 3,000.
While this is a great affordable option, it does suffer form some drawbacks. It lacks WiFi connectivity and being a narrow format scanner, it cannot scan A3 sized documents both on Flatbed as well as through its ADF.
Beyond that, this is a highly capable scanner that is compatible with all Windows and Mac based computers. It also offers OCR technology for creating searchable scans. We highly recommend this as one of the best Flatbed ADF scanners for smaller organizations.
2. Xerox XS-Combo – Most Affordable and Compact Flatbed Scanner with ADF
If you are looking for the most affordable and compact option, then we highly recommend this Xerox XS-Combo.
It does not offer a robust set of technologies, however, it can get the scanning done just as any scanner in this list.
The scanner features a 35 sheet ADF with a speed of 25 ppm. This isn’t a lot as compared to the rest of the scanners, but for the price it is quite fair.
One of the biggest drawbacks of this scanner is that it does NOT feature duplex scanning. This is a Simplex Scanner and therefore it can only scan single side of a document at a time.
If you have plenty of two sided documents to scan, then we would not recommend this. On the other hand, it is excellent for documents like receipts, and other average office documents.
Furthermore, like the HP ScanJet Pro 2500f1 above, this does not have Wifi Connectivity and cannot scan A3 sized documents. However, you must note here that HP ScanJet Pro 2500F1 had a daily duty cycle of 1,500 pages. This only has a duty cycle of 500 pages.
All in all, if you are looking for cheapest possible option for average documents, then this is one of the best flatbed scanners with ADF.
3. Xerox DocuMate 3220 – Famous Flatbed ADF Scanner
This scanner is similar in price to the HP ScanJet Pro 2500f1. We have listed this here because it is one of the most famous scanners of its category.
For starters, know that it is much older than the HP ScanJet Pro 2500F1 – you can tell by its not so appealing looks.
However, it is a highly capable machine that has certainly stood the test of time. It is hailed as one of the most reliable scanners of its kind.
Beside that, it has a fairly capable ADF with a speed of 23 ppm and 46 ipm (B/W). Furthermore, the ADF, it can handle 50 sheets at a time.
Since this is a Duplex scanner, it can scan both sides of the document on a single run.
Unfortunately, like the two scanners reviewed above, this lacks Wireless connectivity option as well as wide format scanning capability.
In the end, if you need a famous, time tested option, then this is one of the best flatbed scanners with ADF.
4. HP ScanJet Pro 4500 FN1 – Advanced Scanner with Wireless Connectivity
HP ScanJet Pro 4500 fn1 hails from the same series as the HP ScanJet Pro 2500F1 reviewed above. This is basically the more advanced option in the series.
For starters, it offers the much needed WiFi connectivity option which the three scanners above lack. You can enhance your workspace with a robust connectivity option as this.
Besides that, it is faster with 30 ppm / 60 ipm scanning speeds and can also support the scanning needs of a much larger organization with its 4,000 daily scanning volume.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that it has a slightly larger flatbed scanner as compared to the ScanJet Pro 3500F1, it still isn’t large enough to scan documents of A3 size. Furthermore, it is significantly more expensive in comparison.
One of the best features it offers is the HP proprietary EveryPage technology that detects and minimizes miss-feeds as well as offers powerful editing tools.
Moreover, this is a Duplex scanner and has an ADF capacity of 50 sheets – which is quite nominal.
In the end, if your workplace/ organization has a large scanning volume or if you are looking for a scanner that can connect with the workplace computers Wirelessly, then this is one of the best flatbed ADF scanners.
5. HP ENVY Photo 7855 – All in One Machine with ADF
If you really need a good flatbed scanner with ADF, why not go for a all in one machine instead?
We promise you, a machine like HP Envy Photo 7855 is not just highly reliable, but also the most affordable option.
It literally costs a fraction of some of the scanners listed here, yet it features the ability not just to scan, but also to copy, print and Fax.
While the ADF is not as robust as the high end options mentioned above, it still is worth it given its price point and the complete package.
The ADF has the capacity of 35 sheets batch scanning. It scans at a speed of 19 color ppm. The only issue here is that this is NOT a duplex scanner. Therefore, it cannot scan both sides of the document automatically,
All in all, if are looking for a multipurpose printer/scanner/copier/fax machine, then this is one of the best Flatbed ADF scanners for the price.
Here we looked at the Flatbed Scanners with ADF.
There are many different configurations and specs that you can find with these scanners. Some are duplex scanners, others scan only a single side. Some cost nearly as much as $1,000, others cost merely a fraction of that number.
In the end, we really loved the HP ScanJet Pro 2500F1. Not only does it look great, but we find it exceptional for small offices.
Besides that, we also loved the fact that an all in one printer like HP ENVY Photo 7855 offers sheetfed mechanism.
In addition to that, we also looked at options for larger organizations as well. We saw that HP ScanJet Pro 4500 FN1 can support a daily scanning volume of 4,000 pages making it essential for larger workgroups. Unfortunately, this had a hefty price tag.
