What to Expect from these Monitors?
Well, surprisingly, despite being cheap 4k monitors for gaming, they offer fairly great overall features.
The one thing that you can be certain here is that a cheap 4k monitor is way more expensive than a cheap FHD monitor.
Take the respectable and famous monitors from the 24 inch category as an example, the 4k LG 24UD58-B is more than twice as expensive as the FHD HP VH240A.
Another thing that you can expect is that all 4K monitors have a high color depth. Conventional monitors have a color depth of 8 bit. On the other hand, 4K monitors, even the affordable ones, have a color depth of 10 bit.
In other words you are talking about 16.7 million colors on conventional monitors vs 1.07 billion colors on 4k monitors.
Finally, you can expect to find monitors from various sizes. You can find 24 inch, 27 inch as well as 32 inch 4k monitors in the budget range.

First up, we have a very rare 24 inch monitor with 4K resolution. Since LG 24UD58-B is a smaller monitor (relatively), it is also one of the cheapest 4k monitors in this list.
While 24 inch monitor with 4K is not everyone’s cup of tea, if you have a limited space, or if you sit up close to display, then you can certainly look into this.
One of the biggest benefit of this 24 inch monitor is the high DPI. The pixel density on a mere 24 inch monitor tend to get very high. As such, the graphics on games would be crisp and highly detailed – far more sharper than 4k graphics on 32 inch.
Furthermore, like all 4K monitors, this is also features a 10 Bit panel with 1.07 billion colors to show. A high color depth with a very high pixel density results in some of the best tonal variation and color gradients on the screen.
Besides that, it also offers the AMD FreeSync feature. While consoles would NOT be able to take the benefit of this feature, if you have an AMD-based PC, you can surely use this feature to reduce the screen tear and screen stutter issues that originate from desyncing of refresh rate and frame rates.
Finally it comes with multitude of gaming centric features such as Game Mode, Black Level Stabilizer and Dynamic Action Sync.
Another great benefit of an affordable 24 inch monitor is that you can easily setup a multiple monitor setup.
Unfortunately, this monitor has some of the thickest bezels for an IPS display and therefore may hinder the continuity between two screen.
All in all, if you need a 24 inch option, then this is the best cheap 4k monitor for gaming.

Next up we have THE cheapest 4K monitor in the market. Despite being a 27 inch 4K display, it is cheaper than the 24 inch LG 24UD58-B we saw above.
That alone is enough to justify this monitor as the best cheap 4k monitor for gaming in the market. However, there is more to it than just an awesome price tag.
For starters, this monitor looks gorgeous for its price. It has some of the slimmest bezels in the category and has an exquisite stand. If you need an eye candy in your room, this monitor will most certainly qualify.
Beside that, this monitor offers an IPS panel, 10-bit color depth with 1.07 billion color at disposal.
The only drawback of this monitor is does not offer any gaming centric features like AMD FreeSync, gaming mode, black stabilizer etc.
However, if you do not care for such features, then this most certainly is quite gaming grade. In fact, the gaming experience will most certainly be beautiful on a large 27 inch screen.
While this lacks gaming features, it does offer color enhancing features like 109% sRGB color coverage as well as a high performance grade 350 nits brightness – most affordable monitors cap at 250 nits maximum brightness.
All in all, if you are looking for a stunning monitor that offers a 27 inch beautiful screen at a budget, then this the cheap 4k monitor for gaming that we would recommend in a heart beat.
3. AOC U2790VQ – 27″ – Budget 4K Monitor with VESA Mounts
- AOC 27” 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 UHD LED monitor
- Ips panel with wide Viewing angles and...
- 3-Sided frameless design, ideal for seamless...
- 5ms response time for fast Responses
AOC U2790VQ is very similar to Philips 276E8VJSB in terms of performance. It too features a 27 inch display, IPS panel, 10 bit color depth, full coverage of sRGB color space and a thin bezel frameless display.
However, we have decided to include this monitor here for two reasons. Firstly, it has a much larger fan base and has received an overall great score.
Secondly, this monitor offers VESA mounting.
If you are planning on building a multiple monitor setup by mounting monitors on dedicated dual, triple monitor arms, then you need two things: you need thin bezels for screen continuity and you need VESA mounting holes.
Unfortunately, in comparison to the Philips 276E8VJSB, it does have a few drawbacks. It is marginally more expensive and it offers a very mundane looking stand. While you can live with the later, the fact that is more expensive can be troubling to most.
All in all, if you are looking for a cheap 4k monitor for gaming with VESA mounting holes, then this is best in the 27 inch category.
4. Asus VP28UQG – 28″ – 4k Monitor with 1 ms Response Time
- 28 inches 4K/UHD (3840 x 2160) with 1ms...
- ASUS Eye Care technology lowers blue light...
- 5 Way OSD joystick delivers intuitive monitor...
- Compliance and Standards EAC logo, Energy...
Firstly, this monitor is slightly larger with a screen size of 28″ as supposed to 27 inch. The larger the screen, the more comfortable you’ll be able to game from a distance.
Secondly, this is the only monitor in this list that offers 1 ms response time. You will often hear that a fast response time is essential for professional gamers.
A faster response time means less motion blur on the screen. This in turn means that you’ll be able to acquire your targets quickly. This makes a fast response time crucial for competitive FPS gaming.
Furthermore, this monitor offers AMD FreeSync feature as well for eliminating choppy frame rates. Finally, it offers myriad of game enhancement features that you can experiment with.
While this monitor does sound like an all out gaming monitor, it does have a few drawbacks in comparison to the rest of the monitors listed here.
For starters, it does not feature an IPS panel. Instead it offers a TN panel. TN panels are great for gamers due to their fast response time, but they lack the color fidelity of an IPS display.
While this monitor still offers a high 10 bit color depth and a reasonably high 300 nits brightness, this monitor isn’t really a designing/editing monitor.
In the end, if you want a tournament-grade option, then this is the best cheap 4k monitor for gaming.
5. LG 32UD59-B – 32″ – Large Screen – TV Substitute
This list would have been incomplete without the mentioning of a large 32 inch monitor.
For most 32 inch is the golden standard for 4K resolution.
If you truly want to experience the benefit that 4K makes, compare a 4K 32 inch monitor with an FHD 32 inch monitor.
Not only does a 32 inch 4k monitor enhance your productivity by allowing you to effectively multitask on its 4x FHD resolution, it also enables you to enjoy your games with crisp details.
There are plenty of 32 inch 4K monitors out there. Most are cream of the crop costing beyond a thousand dollars. LG 32UD59-B happens to be the best cheap 4k gaming monitor with a large screen size.
It offers AMD FreeSync, Black Stablilizer, as well as Dynamic Action Sync to minimize the lag as well as enhance your overall gaming experience.
This is also the only monitor in this list that offers a height adjustable or ergonomic stand. With this, you can tilt it, swivel it, rotate it and adjust its height.
Also, LG 32UD59-B covers the DCI-P3 color space. Therefore, if you are in the film industry or if you love editing videos for fun, then this monitor would help.
All in all, for a large screen monitor, we highly recommend this as the best in this category.

What is the Perfect Screen Size for 4K Resolution?
You also need to consider the fact that when you multi task, you basically divide a screen into multiple quadrants.
Therefore, if you are going to be using the monitor for work purposes as well, then you need to make sure that multiple windows side by side would also look comfortable.
Imagine it this way: 4 windows open side by side on a 24 inch 4K monitor would be so small that it’ll be unbearable to work on (given that you haven’t scaled anything)
