Although in terms of features it is not on par with the Dell S2419HN above, its configuration is quite justifiable keeping the price in mind.
The screen features stereo built in speakers that are rated at 2 Watts. This is not much, but it is adequate enough for offices or for work in general. If you like to have the sound just for notifications and listening to videos occasionally, this should suffice.
Moreover, the design again is gorgeous. Most of the current gen displays feature an exquisite frameless design. This one follows suit but at a reasonable price tag.
This also features an IPS panel; however, it does not cover the 99% of the sRGB color gamut. Therefore, this may not be the best option for professional designer and editors.
Unfortunately, this also lacks an Audio-Out port. You will need to connect to your CPU for audio via earphones. It does; however, add VESA mounting holes with which you can have a great multiple display setup.

If you are a gamer looking for professional gaming monitor with speakers then we highly recommend you check out BenQ EL2870U.
This is a 28 Inch gaming monitor that offers FHD resolution on a TN panel. On top of that, it also offers features that are highly coveted by most pro gamers.
For starters, it has a response time of 1 ms. A 1 ms response time ensures that your gaming experience is motion blur free and has no unwanted ghosting effect.
You must also note there that the TN panels are speciliazed for gaming monitors. They tend to offer the best specs at a fairly affordable rate.
Specs like 1 ms response time are not possible otherwise on IPS and VA panel at such a low price point.
Three central features define a gaming monitor these days. First it should have a very fast response time (ideally 1 ms) to reduce the motion blur effect.
Secondly, it should have a large resolution. Thankfully, this is a 4k monitor. So if you want to hope on the 4k gaming trend, this will help.
Thirdly, it should have a large screen to make the gaming experiencing comfortable.
This monitor tends to cover all of the important bases.
Of course, if you are designer or a photographer, then TN panel monitors aren’t the best for you. But here you must realize that unlike ordinary monitors that have 8 bit color depth, this has a color depth of 10 bit.
A higher color depth means it can show a lot more colors. This in turn means you will love it as a designer/photographers as well.
Finally, this monitor also offers the much coveted HDR feature. This is both useful for gaming as well as for photographers. HDR basically enhances the color gamut and the brightness of the monitor allow you to see more detail.
Overall, if you are looking for pro gaming features with speakers in a monitor at an affordable price tag, then we highly recommend this.
BenQ EL2870U Specs

9. BenQ EX2780Q – High End Gaming Monitor with Speakers
- STUNNING IMAGE QUALITY: 2K QHD 2560x1440...
- GAMING MONITOR BOOSTS: FreeSync Premium,...
- EASY CONTROL: Use a remote control, 5-way...
- 2.1 CHANNEL AUDIO: Two 2W speakers, a 5W...
This has, hands down, the best speaker system that you can find on a gaming monitor. Not only does it offer 2x2W speakers but also a 5W subwoofer. Therefore, if you want an exceptional 2.1 system, then this is the obvious choice for you.
However, there is a lot more to BenQ EX2780Q than just the amazing speakers.
For starters, you must note that this a rather expensive display. Therefore, you have to be ready to pay a premium for the high end specs that it offers.
BenQ EX2780Q is one of the rare monitors out there that offers 144 Hz refresh rate on an IPS display. While 144Hz refresh rate is quite common on TN panels and can be bought for quite cheap, on IPS panels, 144Hz refresh rate is a luxury.
As such, not only do you get the option of gaming at ultra smooth 144 frames per second, the IPS panel on this display allows the monitor to have much vibrant colors and wider viewing angles as compared to TN panel monitors.
On top of that, this has plenty of color enhancing features that can not only improve your gaming experience, but if you are into designing and editing, this will serve you quite well.
Firstly, it features a 10 bit color panel. This equates to about 1.07 billion colors for the monitor to display. Compare this to conventional budget monitors that have 8 bit color depth which equates to 16.7 million colors only.
As such, it covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color range. This color space was traditionally used to define the colors of digital movie projection but now it has been increasingly used as a standard measurement scale for most display devices.
Secondly, this monitor features a unique take on the HDR with its proprietary HDRi technology. HDR itself is an awesome function that allows you to expand the brightness and the color gamut of the monitor.
BenQ has augmented the HDR with its Brightness Intelligence Plus (B.I.+) technology. This technology is found on plenty of BenQ monitors as a standalone feature. It basically senses the ambient light in the environment and adjusts the contrasts and brightness accordingly.
In its original instance B.I.+ was used as excellent eye care technology. However, this monitor combines that with the HDR (hence HDRi). As such. not only does it enhance the color range of the monitor, it also adapts to the screen content as well as to the ambient light.
Taking all the above mentioned specs into consideration, and especially the 2.1 speakers, this is undoubtedly, one of the best monitors with built in speakers.

People Also Ask (FAQs)
Do All Monitors have Built In Speakers?
No, not all monitors have built in speakers. In fact, only a small fraction of monitors in the market have this feature.
Furthermore, a smaller percentage of monitors that do have built in speakers actually DO NOT have decent sounding speakers.
You will notice that most monitors with built in speakers boast 2 watts or 3 watts speakers. Although this is sufficient for notifications or for casual use, this for many would be lacking in terms of entertainment use.
Only a few select monitors offer louder than 5 watts speakers.
Do HDMI Monitors Have Sound?
HDMI does carry a sound channel along with a video signal to the monitor. Therefore, TECHNICALLY, HDMI monitors do have sound being transferred to them IF AND ONLY IF both PC and Monitor are connected via HDMI and there are no adapters like VGA-to-HDMI or DVI-to-HDMI in between.
However, in order to hear that sound, either the monitor needs to have built in speakers or audio out/headphone port in order to connect external speakers to it.
How Do I Connect External Speakers to a Monitor?
- 1Your monitor must have an audio out/headphone port in order to use external speakers.
- 2You must either have direct HDMI to HDMI connectivity from PC to monitor or have an Audio Out port on the PC and an Audio In port on the monitor.
Case 1: HDMI to HDMI connectivity
If you have a direct HDMI to HDMI connectivity without any adapters in between, then you can simply connect the external speakers to the 3.5mm Audio out/ Headphone port on the monitor
Case 2: VGA/DVI Connectivity
If you are interfacing with a port like VGA or DVI, then you will need to connect the monitor to your sound card on the PC. This would require your monitor have a 3.5mm Audio In port and your PC to have a 3.5 mm Audio Out port.
What if you are using adapters VGA-to-HDMI or DVI-to-HDMI adapters?
Typically no, that will not transfer the sound. If you are using VGA-to-HDMI there is no way to transfer sound to the monitor. However with DVI-to-HDMI cables, this is achievable if your graphics card supports audio over DVI. Most modern graphics card do support this.
Otherwise, you will need an Audio input port on the monitor and connect it to the 3.5mm audio out/headphone jack on the PC.
What about the rest of the ports?
Other ports like Display Port or Thunderbolt 3 do carry sound channels like the HDMI port.
All in all, in our opinion, three monitors with built in speakers stand out the most.
The first is the Dell S2419H. It is neither too expensive, nor among the cheapest. However, it is loaded with features and offers some of the loudest speakers.
The second is the Asus MZ27AQ Designo. While this is an expensive monitor, it offers a large screen with big resolution. Best of all, this is the only monitor with speakers that comes with a subwoofer.
The third monitor that stands out is the HP VH240a. While it does not have as great speakers, for a budget monitor it offers a great overal deal.
